Asian Supermarket In Baton Rouge, La Review

Hey what's up y'all? It's the fabulous 1 Xin Lin Wu Jia with a business review! I will start doing separate entries, so I may focus on different businesses. Click here to continue!

Today(5/31/24), I decided to check out this new business in Baton Rouge, Louisiana entitled The Asian Supermarket. The place it's at, used to be a Hancock Fabrics store(I miss this store). At my former job, the nutjob blerds I was working with, informed me of this place, despite me not being from that city or aware of a place like this being there. It's been years, but I finally decided to come to B.R. to check it out! I normally don't shop at foreign owned businesses because of how racist these clowns are down here. However, I thought I'd check this place out.

Upon walking in, no one spoke. I wasn't expecting them to because they are foreigners. They are known for having poor manners, which is no different than everyone else down here. I listened to them talk and wasn't sure if they were Chinese or Vietnamese(the area this business is in, is populated mostly by Vietnamese people). I think they are Vietnamese. I spotted my favorite snacks by Meiji and grabbed a box. I noticed that they had other flavors in that same brand. I want to try that vanilla one. So I grabbed the strawberry one(see photo).

These were cheaper than Rouse's!!!

I saw a gold hair pick so I grabbed it too. I walked down the aisle where the kitchen stuff is and ran up front to put my stuff on the conveyor belt! I went to get a basket. The chick grabs it and I tell her it's mine, I just wanted to get a basket.

So I get a basket and picked up these items, including a spoon for my mom.

The back area stinks. That's due to them having live fish, crabs and etc. I am not the biggest seafood person, I only eat filet fish. I stopped eating shrimp because it reminds me of roaches. Yuck! I didn't get to check out the grocery part, I will check that out another time.

Anyway, overall, would I return? Maybe... I'm glad I didn't get followed because I was looking at them in the corner of my eye. Y'all know how I am, I'll approach and ask what's up. lol They weren't going to follow me because of my reputation in this city. lol There's no translations on the products. I didn't want to ask because I wasn't sure how to? lol I am fine with what I have. I wasn't expected to purchase anything but I have no regrets! You may think you won't buy anything but wait til you step inside!

So I do recommend this place, if you are looking to purchase seafood, groceries, kitchenware and decorations(will return to get those). But they are pricey! I plan on visiting other Asian themed places and doing reviews. I am happy to see more Korean spots are coming to this city. I am beginning to adore Koreans and I'm happy they are getting some shine here but Louisiana still sucks though.

As a warning, the parking area is dangerous. A lot of these drivers do not, and I repeat, DO NOT believe in allowing people to cross the parking lot! I say this a lot on our Facebook page. Generosity is something that Louisiana is lacking. Be careful!

They do need to work on their social skills. Smiling and speaking to your customers gets you more business. Lack there of, gives you reviews such as these:

  1. You get no help in there. I won’t be going back.
  2. Very bad experience  with no respect
  3. Stinky, rude staff. They have stuff you can't get anywhere else, so hold your nose, get in get out.
  4. Can't get any help sea food over priced
  5. Customer service sucks!
  6. Bad service
  7. The store seems overly packed with clutter and the staff aren't the friendliest
  8. It was ok .. you get starred at the whole time your shopping and ignored the entire time real uneasy feeling
  9. It was very good, just not very helpful in customer service.
  10. I felt unwelcome by some of the employees.
  11. The staffs are not very welcoming.
  12. Some of the workers seem off. Many refuse to speak if you ask a question, and one of the check-out ladies is slow as molasses and never smiles. I get the feeling they are maybe being forced to work there? I dunno
  13. The only small hang up that I have with this place is that the staff doesn't seem to be willing to offer help finding anything. Often there will be products that have no english written on them, which makes the experience a little more adventurous, but also a little more frustrating.
  14. However, the service isn’t as friendly

Yeah... You guys need to work on your customer service skills. At my first two jobs, I was threatened with firing, just for not smiling or greeting the customers. But then again, being within a cohesive community, they have their own rules. I know that with most Asian businesses, being polite is like night and day because they know they'll get business regardless. If anyone takes offense to what I said, you must be new here... I don't deal with nobody, and I mean, nobody, from down here. I am critical of everybody and show no favoritism towards anyone. I am pretty fair and consistent with everyone and everything. The items I purchased were almost forty dollars(yes, you read this right!). Make sure you are watching them as they ring you up because again, foreign owned businesses will find a way to add unnecessary fees to your total. I'll make back that once I go back gambling.

I hope you all have enjoyed this post. If you've found this of interest, feel free to comment, share and submit a donation. Au revoir~✌
